Friend’s surprise the wedding couple

This clip shows that it doesn’t have to to be the bride and groom that throws the wedding surprise dance. A couple’s friends performs a dance in honour of the lucky couple.

Get the Wedding Party Started

Picture the following scene. The music is on, it’s pumping, people’s feet are itching to get up and dance, but yet the dance floor is empty. Not all wedding receptions will have the traditional first dance between the bride and groom, so you may need to plant a few guests  to start up the dancing.

Ensure the first few songs are ones that are recognisable (think top ten 10 hits) you know the type of songs that just make people want to dance. Ask your guests prior to the reception if they will help encourage guests onto the dance floor and start the dancing. It’s such a simple thing to do, but will help keep things flowing.

Personalised Wedding Songs

For some couples, picking a wedding song for their first dance is easy. It might be a song that they heard on their first date, or the song that was playing when they first kissed. For other couples, the task may be a little more complicated.

Many wedding couples I know have spent many, many months trying to think of the perfect wedding song for their wedding dance. It’s the usual scenario, one of the couple likes one song, but the other rejects the selection, claiming it reminds them of an ex, or that they simply don’t like the song.

Rather than trying to compromise on a song that both the bride and groom like and feel a connection with, some couples have taken a different route and hired a song writer to custom make a song for them.

It’s a lovely concept, as the couple can have a song that is unique for their situation and it can be forever their song. If you choose to have a custom made song, you have a number of options available to you.

Rock the Reception Wedding Dance

Regular readers will know how much we love wedding dances here at Daily Wedding Blog.  We just love seeing newlyweds having fun at their reception. After all, planning a wedding is hard work, so a wedding reception is a perfect opportunity to throw on those dancing shoes and celebrate!

The following video is a few years old, but it is one of the more polished dance videos, in terms of editing and dancing. It’s also a great follow-up to our previous post Can A Bridesmaid’s Dress Be Black? The bridesmaids dresses in this video were black and it really worked. I especially like the little splashes of white ribbon and trimming on the gowns.

Spruce up that wedding dance

It is becoming a new trend for the bride and groom to spruce up their traditional first dance, and I have to admit, I love it! It just adds a sense of fun, happiness and laughter to a wedding.

This is a great clip of kids sharing in the first wedding dance with their parents. You can just guess what a fun family they must be. It’s a bit of a long clip, but hey, they’re enjoying their moment!

Should I Take Wedding Dance Lessons?

At most weddings, the bride and groom will have the first dance. This can be a daunting experience for some grooms (and brides) who are generally not the dancing type. However, a little preparation can help to alleviate the pre-wedding dancing jitters.

Should I Take Wedding Dance Lessons?
I’m undecided on whether wedding couples should take dance lessons. Sometimes, taking professional lessons can add more stress to nervous couples as they will feel the guests will expect them to be great dancers.

However, if you were to take dance lessons in private, meaning that only you and your partner will know about your classes, no one will expect anything from you. You could also buy an instructional wedding dance DVD. That way you and your partner can practice in the privacy of your own home.

Let your guests pick the wedding music

I received an email in response to last week’s post Quick Tip: Wedding Music. Jenny wrote to me to tell me about a wedding invitation she received a couple of years back. On the back of the RSVP card, the wedding couple had requested that all guests include 1 or 2 favourite songs a ‘wish list’ of what they would like to have played at the reception.

Jenny told me that she and her fellow guests really enjoyed helping to plan the playlist for the night and thought it a nice touch that she was involved in a small way. It also served a conservation starter on tables where not all guests were well acquainted.

Time for another wedding dance video feature! Today we bring you a wedding dance video from New York City and it goes beyond the usual ‘surprise’ break out dance. This dance includes lighting,  choreography and great music! Watching it, you feel like you are in the midst of some great celebration. Imagine the fun they had in rehearsals; they sure don’t make wedding dances like they used to!

Daily Wedding Blog: JK Wedding Entrance Dance

So you may have heard about this clip by now.   You may have even caught a glimpse on it on the news. A wedding couple spruced up their wedding entrance with a dance that involved the entire bridal party and groomsmen. Regular Daily Wedding Blog readers will by now know how much we love a good wedding dance video that breaks away from the tradition; a wedding dance that evokes a spirit of fun that reflect the couple.

To be honest, I’m not entirely sure what I think of this video. Sprucing up the traditional wedding dance is nothing new. Ever since that first wedding dance video was released on YouTube years ago, there have been hundreds of couples (if not more) trying to replicate that sense of fun.
