Avoid bridesmaid dress horrors

Chances are if you know a few former bridesmaids, of if you were one yourself, you may have heard some horror stories such as dresses being made in the wrong size, being delivered weeks later than agreed or the workmanship being of a poor level.
Whilst there is no magic formula to ensure that this doesn’t happen, you can take steps to minimise the chances.
1. TIME: Order your dress early, early, early. This way if you encounter any problems you have enough time to rectify it.
2. TAKE A PHOTO: Take a photo of what you and the dressmaker/store agree that the dresses will look like. Take the photo whilst the bridesmaids are wearing the dress.
3. GET IT IN WRITING: Try to get as much info as you can in writing as you can. From what sizes you are ordering to how long it will take for the dresses to be ready.

Save money on the wedding cake

When choosing wedding cakes, try not to opt for the extras such as the fancy pillars to sit the different cake layers onto, as this just pushes the price up. Layer the cakes on top of each other. The cake may lose a little height, but your wallet won’t mind.

If you are still keen on having the different layers of the wedding cake sit on the different pillars, don’t buy one, rent one. Ask around former brides and grooms to see if they still have theirs and won’t mind loaning it to you. If you have no luck, ask the wedding cake baker if they can hire one out to you.
