Post all your international invitations to just the one guest

Do you have a lot of international guests to invite to your wedding? If so, do you have a relative overseas that you are particularly close such as a sister or a parent? It may work out cheaper to post the entire invitations that are to the same destination, to one person in that country. Then they can post those invitations out at the local postage rates. Of course you will need to reimburse that person. If you visit that country’s post office website, it might have a postage calculator that you can use to find out what the exact amount will be. Don’t just post a bulk lot of invitations without first asking them if they wouldn’t mind passing them onto you.

Nowadays when people send wedding invitations, it is not uncommon for there to be a few inserts added into the envelope such as poems, wishing well info or transport maps. If you have a rather large guest list, you may want to figure out how much each envelope will cost first to post. There are many factors which could increase the standard postage rate such as the thickness of the cardstock used and the size of the envelopes.

When writing thank-you notes, it’s a good idea to avoid the generic notes and personalise each thank-you card. After all your guests have probably been to a ton of weddings and have received the same generic ‘Thank-you for your lovely gift’ phrase time and time again. The tone of the thank-you note and level of formality differs depending on the relationship to the guest.
Family and close friends
If your Aunt Betty came all the way from interstate and gave you a fancy dinner set as a gift you could write something like
Dear Aunt Betty,
Thank-you so much for the gorgeous dinner set you gave us. It’s the perfect addition for our new home and something we will use for years to come. We are also touched that you came all the way from Perth to share our special day; it really meant alot to us to have you there.
I look forward to telling you all about the honeymoon and married life.
With love

Some couples find it difficult when it comes to thanking people for monetary gifts. It needn’t be

Include a Map With Your Wedding Invites

It is a good idea to include a mini map with your wedding invitations as well as a UBD map reference so that your guests will have no problem finding your wedding. You can use Google maps to get started. You may also want to convey to your guests any particular notes on the venue or parking that may be useful to know, such as if the venue has additional parking located at the rear of the venue or if street parking is permitted.
