Brutus – The best man

0509bearChoosing a best man can be a tough decision, however for Casey Anderson the decision was easy. His best man was Brutus, a bear that Casey has hand raised since he rescued him from euthanasia since he was a cub.

There’s actually a pretty interesting and moving back story behind it that can be seen in a National Geographic doco. Kudos needs to be given to his now wife Missi Pyle. Not many women would agree to such a request!

The Longest Wedding Train

For your mid-week bit of ‘Strange But True’ wedding dose we are bringing you a story about the world longest wedding train. Lin Rong wedding train was, wait for it, 2,162-meters long! The 25 year old Chinese woman had her groom’s family handmade the wedding gown on her wedding day. It featured 608 crystals stitched on the dress to symbolise the couples 608 days of dating (aww)

The Bridezilla Race

I received this clip in my email box the other day. It’s from the Bridezilla Race that took place in Times Square last year. Basiaclly you will see 10 bridezilla running up a gigantic wedding cake to win $25000 towards theirwedding.

I guess it’s not as bad as other Wedding competitions that I have seen in the media lately.

30 Year Marriage Amnesia

Imagine being married for 30 years and not even knowing it! That’s what happened to a man in Arizona, USA. He had spent 28 days partying and had no recollection that he had tied the knot! He was actually married at the time to another woman.

Get married in Hello Kitty style

What I love about wedding gowns, is that they are no longer confined to a certain style or colour. Whilst I may not be the biggest Hello Kitty fan (or one at all for that mattter) I can appreciate the uniqueness of the following gown, an email sent to me by a presumably Hello Kitty fan.
The dress was for sale last year on the Etsy website for $4000 and whilst it may not be for everyone, I’m sure some Hello Kitty fans would go crazy for it.

The Konkatsu or “Marriage Hunting” bra.

Well, not really sure what to say about this next video I was emailed, but thought I just had to share. The ‘Marriage Hunting’ bra has a small timer on it and features a countdown timer that is set by the woman, that countdowns to how much time she has left before she wants to marry.

Interesting…

When an engagement ring is inserted between the cups the popular ‘Wedding March’ song is played. The Japanese characters on the bra read ‘Now hunting for a husband’

The video below shows how it works. (it’s in Japanese)

Life-size wedding cake

Wedding cakes come in all shapes and sizes, and in the case of Chidi Ogbuta from Texas America, it can very well take a life size form as you can see in the picture below. The cake was made to size and is a replica of the bride.

This unique wedding dress took 7 people, 20, 000 flowers and two full days to make!

You may now kiss the bride..

Ever wonder where some wedding traditions originate from. The first kiss is a much toned down version of the original tradition where the new husband and wife had to consummate their marriage in front of witnesses! This was to ensure that consummation occurred, which would deem the marriage valid!

The toilet paper gown

On a light-hearted note today, here’s a clip from New York covering the annual toilet paper wedding dress contest. The dresses are actually pretty beautiful and stylish… I wouldn’t be game to wear one though!
