Wedding Venue Ideas #2 University Grounds

This entry is part 2 of 6 in the series Wedding Venue Ideas

When choosing a venue to hold your wedding ceremony or wedding reception consider a venue which holds sentimental significance. For example, if you are your partner met and dated in university, holding your wedding at the university grounds can be an ideal choose.

Many universities have affordable function rooms to rent and are situated amongst idyllic landmarks around the campus to take wedding photos. Some colleges offer specialised wedding packages that include catering, staff and entertainment, but if you prefer, you may just wish to hire the venue and provide the rest yourself to cut cost.

If you or your partner are alumni’s or current students of the university, inquire whether you may be entitled to a discount. If neither of you are, perhaps a member of your family are and are willing to secure the venue in their name.

That’s a great idea. Many bride and grooms may have an affiliation already with a college. What a great way to make the day even more special.

  2. There are some wedding venues ideas
oIf anyone in your family is lively or retired military, check out any local military amenities. Some are really nice
oGet married at a temporary event location like resurgence fair or a historical renovation. You can even rent costumes and nix all that wedding dress and tux craziness!
oContact local historical societies, as many manage remarkable homes and gardens that make ideal wedding locations
oSeem into local arts groups and personal art galleries
oGo online to your city/town/county web site (and surrounding cities), and check out the parks division, as well as any city managed historical buildings. Your local parks division manager may be a great source of wedding venue advice
oGet in the car and drive around your city, look for historical neighborhoods, gardens and parks, and downtown and waterfront areas if your city is on a lake, river or coast. Try to find a location with a view
oFind wedding venue ideas presently outside your city or town: Look at a map of your area and consider everything within a half-hour drive. Is there a coast, a wonderful park, a historic home or lodge, a quaint little town with great charm that may be a wedding location worth driving to?
