Karaoke At Your Wedding

Brainstorming inexpensive ideas for music for a friends wedding reception, we came across an idea that just fit the wedding couple perfectly. Admittedly it is a little quirky, however this bride has decided that rather than hire a dj or band for the night of her reception she will loan a karaoke machine instead.
Penny had first met her fiancé Josh years ago at karaoke night at the local university bar. Regardless of the fact that neither of them were great singers, they both had a great night singing duets ‘badly’ as Penny puts it, so for them, karaoke machines will always hold a special place in their love story.
Primarily the karaoke machine will play music throughout the early part of the reception and whilst the meals are being served. However after the official speeches and dinner, the couple have decided to have some fun singing karaoke to each other.
If you do decide to have a karaoke machine at your wedding, it is very important to pre-arrange to have a few guests to be prepared to participate. Penny and her fiancé Josh would like to share in the fun with other guests so have asked some members of the bridal party and a few other guests if they could volunteer to sing when the opportunity comes up. This will get the ball rolling and before you know it, other guests are likely to be itching for a chance to sing!
Questions To Ask The Hire Company
- Make sure that you ask the hire company if the price is inclusive of delivery. Companies usually offer a discount if you are prepared to pick-up and drop off the equipment yourself. However, it usually is best to allow the company to deliver the machine themselves, as they can set it up and demonstrate how it works. If set-up is not included, insist that it is.
- Find out what extra equipment is included in the hire such as extra speakers, cables and remotes, microphones.
- Find out if the karaoke machine’s speakers can handle the size of reception venue. This is usually not a problem with modern equipment, but it can’t hurt to check.
- Inquire what the karaoke machines music library is like. Does it have a mixture of songs from different genres? Does it include songs from the top 40?
- Is the machine capable of playing cds or does it have a diverse music library already preloaded into it? It is important that the machine is capable of playing ordinary music and well as karaoke songs.Hiring out a karaoke machine varies on price from budget to expensive depending on your choice of machine and karaoke library. Depending on which state you live in, you can expect to find a machine from around $250-$380 ( prices current may 2010)
