SAVE ON THE HONEYOON: Honeymoon Registry

Island Honeymoon

Honeymoon

Many engaged couples worry about how they will be able to afford a honeymoon after their wedding. Many wedding guests fuss about what gifts they will get for the bride and groom. When you look at it that way, the solution does seem simple doesn’t it?

A new trend emerging in Australia is for couples to sign up for to a travel registry. Similar to a gift registry, the travel registry lists the couples planned itinerary and activities and guests can choose which to contribute to and how much.   The donations can be anonymous or known to the bride and groom.  Many travel agents, such as Flight Centre and Jetset, now offer this option as well as online outlets.

Hi there, Your post inspired me to set up a honeymoon registry. I did a lot of looking around and ended up using http://www.whatwewishfor.com.

They offered a great service and the gift registry site looked fabulous.
I broke down my Vietnam honeymoon in to gifts my guests could contribute too e.g. dinners, drinks, massages, hotel accom, tours, spending money. It worked really well and my guests really appreciated the effort I went to instead of just saying send me money! After the wedding I withdrew all the cash and purchased the gifts myself. I preferred this option rather than being tied to a particular travel agent.

A nice touch I think was that we took a picture of every gift we experienced and sent that with the thankyou note to the relevant guest.

    xo

  2. I love the idea of sending a picture of every gift that you experienced to the guest.
